"It is my pleasure to introduce The Medical Center Cardiovascular Fellowship Program. We have structured a curriculum, conferences, and schedules to fulfill ACGME requirements.

We are excited about our new fellowship program and I strongly believe that it is going to improve the overall academic atmosphere in the field of Cardiovascular Medicine in South Central Kentucky.

I have designated my associate, Dr. Jacqueline Dawson Dowe, to be the Associate Program Director. She is highly qualified for this responsibility, being a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and holding multiple Board Certifications in Cardiology and Internal Medicine."

The mission of The Medical Center’s Fellowship Training Program in Cardiology is to improve healthcare access and health status for persons living in or near south central Kentucky, by providing our cardiology fellows with a comprehensive structured cognitive and procedural clinical education in both inpatient and outpatient settings enabling them to become competent, proficient and professional clinicians.

The Medical Center is committed to providing the funding and resources necessary to ensure this is a premier training program which focuses on training physicians committed to excellence in the discipline of Cardiology. We affirm to provide fellows with the fundamental skills necessary to become exemplary clinicians. The program is closely maintained by review, audit, and input from the program director, associate program director, director of medical education, attending physicians, and fellows.

The fellowship training program in cardiology is designed to provide excellence in cardiovascular disease training. A minimum of twenty-four (24) months will include supervised management of patients (clinical rotations).

This program will train two (2) cardiology fellows enrolled in the program during each training year for a total of six (6) fellows. This program is structured to meet and exceed the requirements of the basic standards for training in cardiology.
